Jaden Burnett, 10 years old
Jaden Burnett first went to Children’s Bellevue clinic because of recurrent ear infections — which plagued him with pain almost every month. Jaden underwent three surgeries at Children’s to correct problems with his ears, and he also returned for many follow-up visits and medications. “The care Jaden received from both doctors and nurses was amazing. My son also has sensory processing disorder and working with him can be challenging as he is easily distracted, moves around a lot and has a hard time focusing. Everyone at Children’s was patient and loving with him” says Heather, Jaden’s mother. During that time, the cost of his care added up, and his parents faced a tough decision: pay the medical bills or pay for their basic needs. They applied for financial assistance and felt immense relief when they were notified that everything not covered by their insurance would be paid through the Seattle Children’s uncompensated care program. Heather adds, “We donated to Seattle Children’s Hospital for several years never thinking it would be us to receive the help. It made a world of difference for our family.”
