Henry Pond, 19 years old
On
April 9th 2012, Henry was taken to Seattle to have the transplant done.
After two weeks of preliminary appointments, Henry was admitted into Children's
Hospital for the actual procedure. Thirty-three days and forty-four
nurses later, he was released from the hospital with a new immune system after
being fully engrafted by the donor cells. Henry and his mother, Sharmi,
spent two months at the Ronald McDonald House as Henry continued to get
stronger. On August 9, 2012, Henry was finally allowed to come home to
Grandview, Washington for good. He has started his freshman year of high
school with the help of a tutor coming to the house. He was given the ok
to attend school in May 2013.
From the family: “We are so very thankful to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. We LOVED every one of them. Our experience couldn't have been more positive. Not only did Henry receive the BEST care, we were able to make friends for life! THANK YOU SEATTLE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL AND SEATTLE CANCER CARE!” |
